pH levels lower than 5.5 (more acidic) put folks at higher risks for tooth erosion (when your enamel wears away).
Research found that subjects who ate cheese showed a rapid increase in salivary pH levels, while subjects who drank milk or ate yogurt only experienced no such benefit. Eating cheese increases saliva production. Also, compounds in cheese may adhere to enamel and help protect teeth from acid.
